This full day of training is suited to individuals who want to start a business doing nails or for anyone wanting to learn to do their own nails. It includes nail terminology, chemistry of products, effects of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in cosmetic nail preparations, allergies, nail diseases and disorders, personal presentation to the public, acrylic nail applications with an overview of gel, manicures and spa pedicures and tips for starting a business doing nails. The afternoon will be spent practicing and getting familiar with the application procedures of acrylic on their own nails and a model. Participants will also receive a kit with professional nail products and will be able to shop at beauty wholesalers for future supplies. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon completion.

Dog Obedience - Basic      $70.00

Bring your dog to this class for some basic obedience training. Skills taught will include healing, sitting, downing, staying and recalling. This course is available to owners and their vaccinated dogs (6 months old to adult). No dogs please at the first session. This one is an introduction for the handlers. Canadian Non-Restricted Firearms Safety         $85.00

Restricted Firearms Safety       $60.00

Individuals who will acquire or be in possession of restricted firearms are required to pass the Canadian Non-Restricted Firearms Safety Training and to pass the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course exam. Topics covered in this course will include firearms safety practices, responsibilities of owners and users and safe storage of these firearms.

Air Brakes         $160.00

If you operate a vehicle equipped with air brakes, you are required to have Air Brakes Certification. This course gives an understanding of the air system throughout the semi-trailer unit and how air brakes work. Participants will have an opportunity for hands-on practice. A certificate will be issued upon completion of written and practical testing.

Class 1 Driving (10 hour package)         $1510.00 (road test fee included)
When: November 2 to November 6
Time: 2 hours per day as scheduled
Instructor: W.T. Safety Truck Driving School

A tractor trailer will be provided for the driving practice and will also be available for the road test on November 6. Students will be scheduled for two hours of driving practice each day. This includes the road test on November 6 with an independent Driver Examiner.
Note: An Air Brakes Endorsement course is a pre-requisite for Class 1 driving instruction and students will be required to provide proof of completion. Participants must also complete the written knowledge test for their Class 1 license at any Registry Office prior to the road test.



Ground Disturbance - Supervisor/Level II         $210.00

Confined spaces pose far greater hazards than open work spaces and the potential for fatalities is much higher. This training will help participants develop safe workplace practices through proper evaluation and identification of hazards, testing and monitoring of conditions, and following proper emergency procedures. Training will include hands-on practice in a confined space vessel. Bring overalls and work gloves.

This course is valuable to anyone working in an area where hydrogen sulphide may be a hazard. Students will learn to recognize and identify properties of H2S, protect themselves from its effects and perform basic rescue of others. This full day course will introduce the techniques applied in word processing using Microsoft Word. Understand how to create a new document, save it as a file, and do any editing or formatting necessary. Learn to work with blocks of text and tables and use bullets and numbering in your documents. See how the autotext feature and the format painter can make things easier for you.

Learn to create templates or create documents based on templates. Add headers and footers, create macros and automatically format your documents using the AutoFormat feature.

Teleconference

The Hanna Learning Centre currently offers access to distance learning courses at any major institutions that are delivered by teleconference. This is an audio connection to a networked classroom and instructor that is scheduled at specific times. You need to register at the institution offering the course you wish to take and we will set up the connections for you. 

Computer Managed Learning

• Computer Managed Learning may be:

• Internet connected courses where students participate in an online classroom

• Correspondence courses with some CD-Rom content and Email connections with your instructor.

• Interactive CD-Rom courses with audio & video content and a testing capacity built in which is then emailed to your institution or certifying organization.

Or, a combination of any of the above.

You will usually be required to register with the institution offering the course but we currently have some interactive courses on site.

 

Videoconference

The Hanna Learning Centre has established videoconferencing capabilities to access distance learning opportunities through videoconferencing. This capability means that our community can access credit and non-credit programming that is being offered in larger centres and can be connected to our equipment. Our videoconference equipment is available for meetings and appointments, for business and industry training, or for training for community organizations requiring distance access to instructors!

 

Exam Supervision

The Hanna Learning Centre supervises exams for Distance Learning Students. We are registered at many institutions and organizations as an Invigilation Centre and we can register wherever students require us to supervise their exams.
