Learn the theory and skills of Motivational Interviewing which encompass change and motivation, how to get started and basic motivational interviewing skills. Participants will be able to:
· describe Motivational Interviewing’s spirit of helping
· explain why people do and do not change
· do more activities that encourage change and reduce activities that interfere with change
· learn and practice the basic skills of Motivational Interviewing to elicit change talk and roll with resistance.
Donna Kerr has been writing and training in the areas of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change Model (TTM), addictions, economics/poverty and software/ technology since 1992.
